Mottainai Baggu-Chekku

$300.00

This One of a Kind piece is:

  • made from a collection of antique fabrics gathered over 10 years.

  • made with repurposed antique silk and cotton fabrics, previously used for kimono and yukata.

  • Some additional Indigo and Aizu fabrics compliment the plaid patterns.

  • Raw edges were left exposed so that they may fray and patina over time.

Interior/Storage Pouch:

  • Made from a company promotional tenugui (traditional hand towel).

  • To use in conjunction with the bag. Rather than adding a lining, the interior construction of the bag is then revealed.

  • It may also be used for storing the patchworked bag.

About the Materials:

  • Collected over 10 years all over Japan from visiting antique markets, shows and dealers.

  • These fabrics range from 30-100 years old.

  • Antique fabrics such as these may include areas of fraying, fades, stains, patches or small holes.

Life Continues: The bag will continue to patina over time. Included are recycled threads from previous shibori projects and additional fabric scraps. If you choose, please continue the life of this piece with these items.
